About EODSurvival

At EODSurvival, we believe that being prepared isn't about panic—it's about peace of mind.

EODSurvival is an independent, UK-based preparedness publication run by two writers, Paul and Penny. Our mission is simple: to provide clear, practical survival guides, prepping strategies, gear reviews, and emergency checklists so you and your family can stay safe during blackouts, disasters, and everyday emergencies. We write for ordinary households — people in terraced houses, flats and family homes across the UK and Europe — not for bunkers or extremes.

    Why EODSurvival?

Most survival websites focus on hype or unrealistic scenarios. We take a different approach:

    Evidence-based prepping

Grounded in real risks like power cuts, floods, and communication breakdowns — and checked against official UK and EU guidance.

    Gear you can trust

Unbiased reviews of survival gear, from portable power stations and water filters to emergency radios and first aid kits.

    Checklists that work

Downloadable tools like our popular 72-Hour Blackout Checklist to help you prepare step by step.

    Global perspective, local focus

While our guides are designed for a worldwide audience, we pay special attention to UK and EU regulations (such as BS 8599 first aid kits and PMR446 radios) so our advice is practical and compliant.

    Meet the Writers

EODSurvival is written and run by two people who genuinely enjoy preparedness — and who believe everyone deserves to know what to do when things go wrong.

    Paul

Paul is a co-founder and lead writer at EODSurvival and a lifelong enthusiast of practical self-reliance. He writes our guides on blackouts, home emergency kits, urban survival and survival skills, with a focus on advice that works in a UK terraced house or city flat as well as in the countryside.

For Paul, preparedness should be calm and achievable for anyone — no bunkers required. When he isn't researching gear or testing checklists, he's finding simpler ways to explain what to do in the first 72 hours of an emergency.

    Penny

Penny is EODSurvival's researcher and co-writer. She specialises in turning official advice — from GOV.UK's Prepare campaign, the Met Office and the NHS — into plain-English guides, checklists and family plans that real households can actually follow.

Her particular interests are food and water storage, family communication plans and first aid readiness. Penny's goal is simple: that everyone in the household, from children to grandparents, knows exactly what to do when an emergency happens.

Between them, Paul and Penny share one mission: to make sure that no reader is caught out by the unexpected, and that knowledge — not fear — is what people take away from every article on this site.

    Our Editorial Standards

Every article on EODSurvival is written and reviewed by us, and held to the same standards:

    • Sourced from official guidance. We check our advice against trusted institutions such as GOV.UK, the Met Office, the NHS, and Ofcom, and we link to them so you can verify it yourself.
    • No fearmongering. Our motto is "Prepared, not paranoid." We write about realistic risks, not hype.
    • Honest gear advice. Our buying guides and reviews are written independently. If a page is ever sponsored or paid, it will be clearly labelled.
    • Kept up to date. We review and update the guides on this website as official advice, products, and regulations change. Downloaded and printed publications reflect guidance at the time of their release.
    • Corrections welcome. Spotted something wrong or out of date? Tell us and we'll fix it.
